Hello! My name is Gina, but sometimes people call me Gidget. I got that name working up at a YMCA summer camp in central Washington State. That is actually where I met and fell in love with my husband Kyle (known as Mongoose back then). I started documenting my life during a study abroad trip (to Rome, if it wasn’t obvious) and kept going after finding myself with a degree in English Lit and a job working as a nanny.
After writing tons of analytical essays on books and articles, it felt refreshing to analyze life and faith and all of its complexities.
I continued to find topics to write about and moment to document, and this outlet has just kept growing.
Motherhood, loss, divine nature, the pursuit of happiness…it’s an endless discovery to reflect on and learn from again and again and again.
Some things that might interest you about me:
I am extremely enthusiastic (usually about whatever it is I am doing in the moment, but also just in general).
I am a rambling storyteller in person…I tend to lose people with my jolting tangents.
I have a goal to live on a farm with goats and lots of room to roam around.
I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as a Mormon). No, I did not join the church just to marry my husband. But yes, my love for him was a catalyst.
I have four children. Three boys here on earth (Max, Daniel, and Theodore) and one boy in heaven (James). James was stillborn at 39 weeks and I think about him everyday.
I am passionate about mindful living. To me this means getting rid of excess stuff that keeps me from what is most important. It means voting with my wallet and making choices that not only feel right for my family but feel right as a global citizen. It means choosing that which matters most.
I definitely think too much.
Welcome to my thoughts!
